Tales of a Food Writer, with Sharon Honig-Bear
Sharon is a freelance writer and photographer who served as the Reno Gazette Journal’s restaurant critic for seven years, and for the past nine years has authored the Edible Traditions column for edibleReno-Tahoe magazine. Her most recent article is
The Taming of the Brew, about the E. 4th Street historic brewery district.
Sharon will talk about how she got started as a food writer, what she’s learned from years of historical research on food and other topics, and include a few interesting tidbits about local food culture. You won’t want to miss her engaging presentation.
Sharon has served in many other capacities besides being a food writer, including serving on the City of Reno Arts and Culture Commission after retiring as development director for the Washoe County Library system. She is a past president of the Historic Reno Preservation Society and founded the organization’s highly successful Harvest of Homes Tour to raise money for preservation grants, and has received numerous awards and accolades for her advocacy efforts.
